Vietnam is my first contact with Southeast Asia, with its humidity and heat, with the mountains of its border with China that seem tattooed, in dark green, of rice fields that scatter from their impossible slopes. With its babbling of fresh water and its murmuring of kind people, who without knowing my language, my purpose or my way, do not spare in kindness and empathy. Behind a bottle of water filled from the tap, there is always a hot tea, a bowl of rice, a cucumber … and of course a smile that eases the tiredness of the daily journey.
